Clouston, the Canadian Hockey League's coach of the year last season, replaces Dave Cameron, who returned to the Ontario Hockey League's Mississauga St. Michael's Majors.

Clouston, a native of Viking, Alta., has been head coach of the WHL's Kooteney Ice for the past five seasons, earning a .637 winning percentage with a 209-110-24 record while making the playoffs each season and reaching the conference final in 2004-05.

Clouston, who has assistant coach with the Ice from 1999-2000 to 2001-02, was the general manager and head coach of the Grande Prairie Storm of the Alberta Junior Hockey League from 1995 to '99.

The 37-year-old played four years at the University of Alberta and was a member of the 1991-92 Golden Bears team that won the Canadian university men's hockey championship.
