OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators assigned defencemen Christoph Schubert and Brian Lee to Binghamton of the American Hockey League on Tuesday.

Schubert had six points (3-3) in 50 games for Ottawa last season. The 27-year-old Munich native recorded 65 points (23-42) and 194 penalty minutes in 268 regular season games with Ottawa over the last four seasons.

He was Ottawa's fourth-round pick (No. 127 overall) in the 2001 entry draft.

Lee, 22, split his first two pro seasons between Ottawa and Binghamton. The Fargo, N.D., native had 13 points (2-11) in 53 games with the Senators last season. Lee, the No. 9 overall pick of the 2005 draft, added 12 points (2-10) in 27 games with Binghamton.

It appears that defenceman Erik Karlsson will stick with the big club. The Senators selected the five-foot-11, 169-pounder with the 15th overall pick of the 2008 entry draft. Karlsson spent most of last season with Frolunda in his native Sweden.

With the moves, the Senators now have 23 players on their camp roster - two goaltenders, seven defencemen and 14 forwards.

Ottawa opens the regular season Saturday against the Rangers in New York.
