No room for fake fights

There's been a lot of talk the last season or two about the role of enforcers in the league and their slow, steady demise over the years.

This season has seen an increase in fighting, but the reasons have changed. I don't mind the real fighting, but the planned stuff is a joke.

At a recent Bruins/Caps game, Milan Lucic asked the guy standing next to him at the faceoff circle if he wanted to go a round, for basically no reason...that's ridiculous!

Later coach Bruce Boudreau had a brain freeze and skated Donald Brashear’s line, while trying to hold on to a one-goal lead with a few minutes left in the game.

After high-sticking David Krejci in face, he cold-cocked Shane Hnidy because he 'lost his temper.' So the goons fighting at the beginning of the game just for the hell of it had no impact on the outcome, and a goon skating a regular shift at the end of the game drew a double minor penalty and cost his team the game and maybe a playoff berth.

The fights were entertaining, but had absolutely no impact on the game. I don't mind the real fighting, but the planned crap has to go.
