TORONTO - Colin Campbell was a busy man Wednesday, handing down three suspensions.
The NHL's disciplinarian suspended Dallas Stars forward Steve Ott for three games, Buffalo Sabres tough guy Andrew Peters one game and Chicago Blackhawks defenceman James Wisniewski one game all in separate incidents.
Wisniewski received a match penalty for cross-checking forward Mikael Samuelsson of the Detroit Red Wings in the face on Tuesday night. His one-game suspension meant he was out for Wednesday's game against Carolina.
Ott got three games for his hit to the head of Colorado Avalanche defenceman Jordan Leopold in Sunday's game. No penalty was assessed on the play. Ott will miss Thursday's game at Detroit, Saturday's game against Vancouver and March 19 against Anaheim. He will be eligible to return March 22 against Los Angeles.
Peters got a game as a result of an altercation involving New York Rangers tough guy Colton Orr on Monday night, Peters getting involved with Orr while still on the Buffalo bench. Peters was assessed a 10-minute misconduct on the play. Peters was out for Wednesday night's game at Pittsburgh.
