NHL must look at improving TV product

An interesting study would be that of the low quality of TV production seen throughout the league.

The NFL has studied high def and the new screen format and optimized the quality of their product on TV.

As an avid fan who has relocated to Arkansas and relies on TV for most of his hockey viewing, I can attest to this problem. In a nutshell, there are too many close-ups and too much camera movement. Speed skating employs a moving camera to lessen the "motion" on the picture.

The NHL should consider research to find the optimum camera angle, height and distance (most rinks are too low presently) and experiment with a robotic camera on a track that would extend from blueline to blueline and follow the action.

This would improve view in the near corner and eliminate some of the distortion we see now. There is lots of work that could and needs to be done.
