NEW YORK, N.Y. - The NHL says Wednesday's pre-season game between the Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers in Sunrise, Fla., has been cancelled because of the threat from Tropical Storm Nicole.
The announcement was made by the league on Tuesday, more than 24 hours before the scheduled game.
"We felt that it was in the best interest and safety of our fans, our players and the Carolina Hurricanes to cancel Wednesday's game due to the threat of the impending tropical storm," Panthers general manager Dale Tallon said in a statement released by the NHL.
The game will not be rescheduled.
