DUBENDORF, Switzerland - The IIHF World Hockey Championship is over for James Neal.

The Canadian forward suffered cuts above and below his left eye after getting high-sticked by Ladislav Nagy during Canada's 7-3 victory over Slovakia on Tuesday night.

He was taken directly to hospital and stitched up, but was able to return to the team hotel afterwards.

The 21-year-old Dallas Stars forward is expected to make a full recovery.

Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Braydon Coburn filled one of the two openings the Neal injury left for Doug Armstrong. The Canadian GM hoped to have the other spot filled by the end of the day.

Armstrong had already made another addition to his blue-line. San Jose Sharks defenceman Marc-Edouard Vlasic will join the team later in the week.
