ABBOTSFORD, B.C. - Garth Murray's short-handed goal stood as the winner and the Abbotsford Heat won their fourth straight, 4-2 over the Rockford Ice Hogs in American Hockey League action Friday night.

Murray scored the winner 48 seconds into the second period. David Van Der Gulik, beat out the Rockford defenceman on the forecheck and set up Murray beautifully in the slot for his second of the season.

The Heat opened the scoring in the first period with a pair of goals 19 seconds apart. Cam Cunning got the Heat on the board when his shot from the face-off dot beat Ice Hogs netminder Corey Crawford high on his glove side.

Jamie Lundmark and Jason Jaffray also scored for Abbotsford (8-4-3).

Crawford was chased from the net early in the second period and replaced by Joe Fallon, who shut the door the rest of the way for Rockford.

Fallon made a couple of large saves including one off Jaffray while he was down and out to keep the score at 4-1.

Pete MacArthur and Bracken Kearns scored for Rockford (6-8-2).

Heat starter Leland Irving, who was named the AHL Player of the Week, stopped 33 shots for his seventh win of the season.
