ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Minnesota Wild activated centre Mikko Koivu from injured reserve before Friday night's game at Chicago.
Koivu missed 24 games after a two-handed slash to the back of his leg by Vancouver defenceman Mattias Ohlund during a game on Nov. 16. Ohlund drew a four-game suspension from the NHL, and Koivu suffered a broken bone in his leg.
The sixth overall pick in the 2001 draft, Koivu was on the verge of a breakthrough season - his third with the Wild - before the injury. He had five goals, 11 assists and a plus-5 rating in 19 games.
