The struggling Dallas Stars have added Mark Parrish to help right their sinking ship.

"It's a deal that we think can work for us," Stars co-GM Les Jackson told the Dallas Morning News. "It's one we can afford, and one we think is worth trying.”

Parrish, who was bought out in the summer by the Minnesota Wild, scored 16 goals and 30 points in 66 games last season.

The deal is a one-year pact and Parrish is expected to take a physical Tuesday. If he passes, he should join the Stars lineup Friday against the Anaheim Ducks.

If he sticks with the NHL club, Parrish will earn $500,000, but if ends up playing in the American League he will be paid $100,000.

Originally selected in the third round (79th overall) by the Colorado Avalanche in 1996, the 31-year-old right winger has 208 goals and 372 points in 660 NHL games with Florida, the Islanders, Los Angeles and Minnesota.
