Marian Hossa already had 1,000 points to his name, but he added yet another Hall of Fame worthy credential to his resume when he netted his 500th career goal on Tuesday night.

Marian Hossa finished the 2015-16 campaign sitting at 499 goals and had an entire off-season to think about goal No. 500. Four games into the new campaign, though, Hossa doesn’t have to wait any longer.

In the second period of Tuesday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers, Hossa, 37, became the 44th player in league history to reach the 500-goal plateau. After having a few chances to net his 500th goal early in the season, Hossa managed to get the milestone marker early in the second frame with Chicago on the power play.

Driving down the right wing, Hossa took the puck on his backhand, drove to the net hard and found space five-hole on Flyers goaltender Michal Neuvirth. The celebration post-goal from Hossa tells you all you need to know about what the milestone means to the veteran winger:

A big part of Hossa reaching the 500-goal plateau was his play in the early years of his career, especially during the prime years of his career. From 2000-01 until 2008-09, Hossa failed to score 30 goals just one time, and even that campaign was a 29-goal season. He surpassed the 40-goal plateau three times in his career, too, most recently as a member of the Detroit Red Wings in 2008-09 — the season before he came to Chicago to join the Blackhawks.

Hossa is a long way removed from his most productive seasons, but he remains one of the best two-way forwards in the league and his defensive game is one of the most respected in the league.

Reaching the 500-goal plateau is another feather in Hossa’s cap and another potential Hall of Fame credential. Though Hossa has never won an individual award in his career, he has three Stanley Cups to his name, five Stanley Cup final appearances, 1,000 points and, now, 500 goals.
