Handzus signed a US$16-million, four-year contract, Nagy came in at $3.75 million for one season, Calder $5.5 million over two years and Preissing signed for $11 million over four years. All four were unrestricted free agents.

Handzus, 30, played only eight games last season in Chicago, collecting eight points (3-5) in eight games. He's a solid two-way player who had 44 points (11-33) in 73 games with Philadelphia in 2005-06.

Nagy, 28, had 55 points (12-43) in 80 games with Phoenix and Dallas last season, numbers that were down from the point-a-game pace he had the previous two seasons.

Preissing, 28, had 38 points (7-31) in 80 regular-season games with the Ottawa Senators last season while posting a staggering plus-40 rating. He added seven points (2-5) in 20 playoff games. Preissing will earn $2.75 million a season, a huge over the $600,000 he made last season in Ottawa.

Calder, 28, had 35 points (14-21) in 78 games with Philadelphia and Detroit last season.
