According to the Globe and Mail, the Toronto Maple Leafs have decided to give 34-year-old center Jason Allison a chance to make the team at training camp this September.
The veteran has not been offered a contract.
Allison, who has been out of the NHL since the 2005-06 season when he scored 17 goals and 60 points in 66 games with Toronto, has had a desire to return to the NHL for the past two years.
“I’m physically and mentally as healthy as I’ve been in five years,” Allison told the Canadian Press. “I’m excited and ready to go"
In 552 career NHL games, Allison has 154 goals and 485 points with the Leafs, Kings, Bruins and Capitals.
