Washington's newest Russian phenom was in a gift-giving mood Friday night, assisting on the Capitals' final three goals in a 4-3 victory over the Vancouver Canucks for the first points of his NHL career.

The Washington Capitals waited a long time for Evgeny Kuznetsov to finally come to D.C., but fans found out Friday night just why he was well worth the wait.

After being blanked in his first two games, Kuznetsov had three assists for the Capitals in their 4-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks.

With the game tied 1-1 in the second period, Kuznetsov got his first NHL point on a textbook Alex Ovechkin goal, a one-timer from the left circle, at 8:28 to give Washington the lead.

A little more than four minutes later, Kuznetsov set up fellow rookie Tom Wilson with a smart cross-ice slap pass.

Then after Vancouver came back to tie the game 3-3 in the third period, Kuznetsov showed some muscle, fighting off Canucks defenseman Alexander Edler to start the play for the game-winning goal.
