Jonathan Drouin found the score sheet with an assist in his first game back in the AHL, and he showed off some skill with a beautiful goal to open the scoring Saturday. Drouin also added a power play goal with a huge blast.

In his first game back in the AHL, Jonathan Drouin found the score sheet with an assist, but he made a statement in game No. 2 since his return to the Syracuse Crunch with a beautiful tally to open the scoring Saturday. Late in the first period of the Crunch’s Saturday tilt with the Americans, Drouin powered his way to the net by warding off Rochester winger Justin Bailey’s backchecking attempt and made a slick backhand to forehand move. Americans goaltender Linus Ullmark fell to the ice and out of position, and Drouin was able to deposit the puck for the game’s opening goal:
Drouin wasn’t done there, though. Midway through the second period, Drouin scored a goal that was less skill and more brute force. With the Crunch on the power play midway through the frame, Drouin was working the left wing wall. The puck came Drouin’s way on a feed from Matt Taormina, and the young Crunch winger walked into the zone before unleashing an absolute bomb:
Upon returning to the AHL, Drouin said he knew he had to prove himself if he wanted to play with the Lightning again before the season was through. "It's going to be up to me to put in the work. I'm not just going to get called up to get called up,'' Drouin told syracuse.com’s Lindsay Kramer. "I have to put in the work here, and that's what I plan to do.’' Two goals and three points in five periods since returning? That’s definitely a good start.
