Coach Q earned his 783rd career regular-season victory, putting him alone in second place on the all-time list, behind Scotty Bowman.

Joel Quenneville has the Chicago Blackhawks on one of their best roles ever, and because of it he now stands alone in second place on the all-time wins list. The Blackhawks beat the Montreal Canadiens 2-1 on Thursday night to earn their ninth consecutive victory. And in the process, Coach Q earned his 783rd career regular-season victory, putting him alone in second place on the all-time list, behind Scotty Bowman. Quenneville, 57, signed a three-year extension with the Blackhawks on Tuesday, hours before earning win No. 782 to tie Al Arbour. He'll need to keep up his pace for many more years if he's going to catch Bowman who had 1,244 career victories. It took Quenneville just 1,420 games to reach the milestone, an impressive career winning percentage of .617. Quenneville is in his eighth season behind the Blackhawks bench, and already has three Stanley Cup rings. But the team's current streak remains one of the best in their long history. That 2013 win streak is a team record. The streak has also sneakily propelled the Blackhawks back to the top of the Western Conference standings. They now have 62 points, tied with division rival Dallas for tops in the Central and the conference. The Blackhawks can make it 10 when they visit the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday.
