Winnipeg Jets prospect Nikolaj Ehlers dazzled on Friday with the Halifax Mooseheads, switching his stick over from a left-handed to a right-handed shot as he carried the puck through traffic in the neutral zone.

The Hockey News scouting report on Nikolaj Ehlers describes him as “supremely skilled and talented with the puck, able to create plays and finish on his own.”

Maybe it’s time we add “with either hand” to the end of that description.

The left-shot, left wing Dane put on an incredible show against the QMJHL’s Shawinigan Cataractes on Friday, switching handedness in the middle of heavy traffic in the neutral zone.

Yes, Ehlers switched handedness, as in suddenly started playing as a right-shot forward.

He only did it for a few moments but it’s breathtaking to watch, especially on a Vine loop.

Soak that in a bit before you move on to the game video below.

Ehlers stops up to avoid a Cataractes player coming in from his blind side, then switches hands to avoid two backcheckers as he drives into the Shawinigan zone up the right wing.

The Cataractes defencemen keep him to the outside and spoil the show by forcing him around the net, but it's still a sight to behold.

Ehlers is the most dominant forward the QMJHL right now. He’d be leading the league in points if he hadn’t missed a chunk of time in December for the world juniors.

He’s ninth in QMJHL scoring with 28 goals and 73 points, and he managed that in 36 games. Everyone ahead of him in the scoring race has played at least 50 games, and as many as 55. Top scorer Conor Garland has 98 points in 55 games.

The Winnipeg Jets have plenty to be excited about with their ninth overall pick from the 2014 draft. Ehlers isn’t all that big at an even six-foot and 168 pounds, but the 19-year-old has incredible hands.
