SAN JOSE, Calif. - Jeremy Roenick returned to the San Jose Sharks' lineup on Saturday after missing 28 games with a shoulder injury.

Roenick hadn't played since Dec. 11, when he tore cartilage in his shoulder during a game against Anaheim. The 20-year NHL veteran's recovery went slowly, but he joined Claude Lemieux and enforcer Jody Shelley on the Sharks' fourth line against Atlanta.

Roenick, who has 512 career goals, scored three goals and added five assists in the Sharks' first 28 games.

Defenceman Brad Lukowich also was activated off the Sharks' injured reserve list before the game, but was a late scratch after taking pre-game warmups. Lukowich missed his 18th game with a sports hernia.

Tomas Plihal also returned to the Sharks' lineup after missing two games with a lower-body injury.

The Western Conference-leading Sharks made room for their returning regulars by sending forwards Jamie McGinn, Brad Staubitz and Lukas Kaspar to their top minor league affiliate in Worcester, Mass.
