Jaromir Jagr’s mullet is making a glorious comeback

Jaromir Jagr has been back in the NHL since 2011, but his mullet has been missing since the late-1990s. Fear not, though, because Jagr's mullet is making a comeback in 2015-16. Get ready for the greatest hockey hair of all-time to hit the ice once again this season.

Nothing says hockey in the 1990s quite like mullets, and when he wasn’t winning scoring titles, Jaromir Jagr was combing what was one of the most majestic manes in all of sport. And though Jagr has been back in the NHL since 2011, his mullet has yet to make its presence felt. Until now, that is. According to The Miami Herald’s George Richards, Jagr is growing his hair out, and with each passing day we get that much closer to once again laying eyes on the most glorious mullet the NHL has ever seen. When exactly Jagr’s hair reaches peak mullet is to be determined, but the 43-year-old surefire Hall of Famer has, “already started letting the back go,” according to Richards. "We have to wear helmets, so that's why I'm growing my hair back out," Jagr told Richards. "I'm growing it back. I have to." Maybe playing alongside Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov has finally gotten to the veteran Jagr and he's trying to relive his youthful days. The Florida Panthers certainly wouldn't complain about Jagr's on-ice play returning to the same level it was at during his most-mulleted days with the Pittsburgh Penguins. In the 1990s, Jagr scored 387 goals and 958 points in 725 games. He also won four Art Ross Trophies, one Hart Trophy and two Lester B. Pearson Awards. But by 2000-01, Jagr's final season in Pittsburgh, the mullet was gone. If there's a direct correlation between the return of Jagr's mullet and increased prices for Panthers tickets on the secondary market is yet to be seen, but the smart money says people will be willing to shell out extra cash to see the hockey hair live. Welcome back, Jagr's mullet. We can't wait to see you again.
