CALGARY - Calgary Flames captain Jarome Iginla joined elite company on Sunday night.

Iginla’s goal on a penalty shot 59 seconds into the second period of Calgary's game against Nashville was his 30th goal of the year, making him just the 10th NHL player to score 30 goals in 10 or more consecutive seasons.

Mike Gartner and Jaromir Jagr, who accomplished it most recently (1991-92 to 2006-07), top the list at 15 consecutive seasons.

Others on the list include Phil Esposito, Wayne Gretzky, Bobby Hull, Marcel Dionne, Mike Bossy, Jari Kurri and Darryl Sittler.

At 471 career goals, the 33-year-old Iginla is also closing in on the top 50 on the NHL’s all-time goal scoring list. He’s two back of Denis Savard and Alex Mogilny, who are tied for 49th with 473.

Iginla was awarded the penalty shot when he was tugged from behind by Sergei Kostitsyn as he broke in on Pekka Rinne.

On the penalty shot, Iginla cut to his right and slid the puck through Rinne’s legs tying the game 2-2.

Iginla entered the night 1-6 in his career on penalty shots, his last goal coming Nov. 10, 2005 versus then Phoenix goaltender Curtis Joseph.
