Jagr's goal helped the Florida Panthers defeat the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night. With the victory, the Panthers moved into top spot in the Atlantic Division.

Jaromir Jagr gave the Florida Panthers a 2-1 lead late in the second period against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night.

The goal, his 25th of the season, put Jagr in some exclusive company.

The 44-year-old became just the second player in NHL history to score at least 25 goals in 18 seasons joining Gordie Howe, who reached the 25-goal mark in 20 seasons during his career.

This season marks the first time since the 2007-08 season, while with the New York Rangers, that Jagr has scored 25 goals in an NHL season.

Jagr has now scored eight goals after turning 44 on Feb. 15; the only player to score more goals after turning 44 in NHL history is Howe.

The line of Jagr, Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov combined for six points in the Panthers 5-2 win over the Lightning.

“They’re both very young,” said Jagr of his line mates. “(But) even at that young age they’re counted on to be the top guys – sometimes it’s pretty tough. It’s a lot of pressure at a young age.

“I remember I didn’t have to go through that (in Pittsburgh). I had a lot of superstars around me. I know how tough it is. We talked a little bit before the game – I said ‘Lets have fun’. I felt like we were losing confidence because our line didn’t have a good 2-3 games. Just lets have fun and hopefully it’s going to get better.”

With the victory, Florida took over top spot in the Atlantic Division. The Panthers have won four of the five meetings between the two clubs this season.
