Hockey players dominated the field at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, Nev., this past weekend with five former or current NHLers among the top nine.

Former Major League Baseball pitcher Rick Rhoden won the event for the seventh time. He birdied the final two holes to edge former NHLer Dan Quinn by one point in the Stableford scoring format. Rhoden has played more than 30 events on the PGA Champions Tour (50 and over) since 2002.

Quinn, 43, played 14 seasons in the NHL for eight teams, most notably Calgary and Pittsburgh. He has won the celebrity golf event on four previous occasions and is recognized as the top golfer among ex-players.

Other celebrities among the top 20 golfers were Tony Romo, Mark Rypien, John Elway, Lawrence Taylor, Carlton Fisk and Jerry Rice. But no sport had as strong a result as the hockey community, with Grant Fuhr, Brett Hull, Pierre Larouche and Jeremy Roenick all finishing in the top nine.

Here are the top 10 finishers with hockey connections, including their overall placement in the 82-celebrity event:

10. Janet Gretzky (71st overall).

9. Mike Eruzione (60th).

8. Wayne Gretzky (48th)

7. Mario Lemieux (23rd).

6. Joe Sakic (16th).

5. Jeremy Roenick (9th).

4. Pierre Larouche (tie-5th).

3. Brett Hull (tie-5th).

2. Grant Fuhr (3rd).

1. Dan Quinn (2nd).
