In this week’s Getting To Know, Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Scott Darling talks about the time his entire team missed a game because of a broken down bus and recalls one of his first NHL saves with stunning accuracy.

Status: Chicago Blackhawks goaltender.

Ht: 6-6 Wt: 232 pounds

DOB: December 22, 1988 In: Lamont, IL

First Hockey Memory: "As a little kid growing up, I was in Washington State for a while. I used to watch my dad's men's league games in Tacoma."

Hockey Inspirations: "Again, my dad (Scott) was a goalie. So that got me into it right away."

Last Book Read: "Moving The Chains. Tom Brady"

Current Car: "For now, a Chevy Equinox (black)."

Greatest Sports Moment: "Playing for the Blackhawks - my first game."

Most Painful Moment: "I don't really know. I honestly haven't...I can't even think of one."

Nickname: "Darls."

Strangest Game: "When I was in Wheeling two years ago, we were on our way to Kalamazoo. We sat on the side of the road for 24 hours. Missed the game. (Where were you stuck?) Just outside Columbus."

Why Do You Love Playing Hockey: "It's a thing in my life that I've always been so passionate about. I'm very lucky that I get to do what I love to do for a job."

Funniest Players Encountered: "A guy named Bryan Rodney I played with last year in Milwaukee. Shawzy (Andrew Shaw) is pretty funny."

Fiercest Competitors Encountered: "Jonathan Toews, for sure."

Most Memorable Save: "Probably in my first game against Ottawa. Early on I made a back door split glove save on (Alex) Chiasson. Maybe that one, or stopping (Jaromir) Jagr in a shootout was pretty exciting."

Funny Hockey Memory: "When the guys get the sniper from the stands. Like against Florida this year, I was skating to the bench on a delayed penalty and I toe-picked and just ate it. But nobody really saw it because I was behind the play. I'm sure everybody in the United Center saw it [smiles]."

Embarrassing Hockey Memory: "Every time I let in a goal. I've let in some terrible ones from the red line. I can't think of anything else off the top of my head but those would be my embarrassing moments."

Favorite Sport Outside Hockey: "Baseball."

Three Athletes You Like To Watch & Follow: "Tom Brady and Pekka Rinne. Cory Schneider - I like to follow him too."

First Famous Player You Met Or Encountered: "The first recollection of meeting a big time goaltender or player was...Ed Belfour when I was young. His son and I were in a hockey camp together in Chicago. He showed up and I got to meet him."

Personality Qualities Most Admired: "For me with people it's...I don't want to say I judge people...but based on how they treat other people. Doesn't matter if you're a billionaire or somebody walking down the street. Everybody deserves respect. I have a lot of respect for people who show everybody a lot of respect."
