This entire time, while the NHL and its players were taking special care to deliver us the very finest in Halloween duds, Sweden’s famed Frolunda club was planning the most elegant team photo of all-time that would help link October’s silliness to one of November’s best causes.
This entire time, while the NHL and its players were taking special care to deliver us the very finest in Halloween duds, Sweden’s famed Frolunda club was planning the most elegant team photo of all-time that would help link October’s silliness to one of November’s best causes. The seemingly
Boardwalk Empire-inspired photo and style is Frolunda’s way of supporting Movember and prostate cancer research. While there are no Lanny McDonald-style mustaches, the team has nailed the pencil mustache. The full photo from the Frolunda website is below, and you can also see the progression from last season's look:
You may recognize captain Joel Lundqvist front and center. Lundqvist, the brother of Rangers netminder Henrik, was part of the Dallas Stars organization until 2009. Donning fedoras and newsboy hats really adds to the 1920s and ‘30s motif the team was going for. The former home of stars such as Daniel Alfredsson and Henrik Lundqvist, Frolunda has a huge following in Sweden – think the Maple Leafs of Swedish hockey – and their support of Movember is sure to garner some attention for the cause. In addition to the dapper photo, the team is selling t-shirts and programs with all proceeds going to support the Movember movement. Meanwhile, back in North America, the final challengers for the year’s best Halloween digs are rolling in with the Boston Bruins looking a bit different than their Big Bad days.
Dressed to the nines as the characters from the Disney film
Frozen, the Bruins’ Matt Bartkowski, Matt Fraser, Torey Krug, Kevan Miller, Dougie Hamilton, and Seth Griffith surprised the kids at Boston Children’s Hospital. Looks like the young Griffith escaped some light rookie jabbing, drawing the antagonist Hans instead of being stuffed into the snowman suit like Torey “Olaf” Krug. And, finally, Roberto Luongo threw his hat, er, antlers in the ring with this photo from his Instagram account:
Luongo, known for having a bit of a comedic flair, comes strong with his deer-in-the-headlights look. The Panthers’ goaltender nails the costume and gets extra points for originality and that facial expression.
