MILWAUKEE - Frederic St. Denis scored two goals as the Hamilton Bulldogs beat the Milwaukee Admirals 4-1 in a battle between American Hockey League division leaders Thursday.

P.K. Subban and Andre Benoit also scored for Hamilton, which leads the North Division.

Hugh Jessiman replied for Milwaukee, which is first in the West Division.

Milwaukee forward Ben Guite was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for cross-checking at 14:24 of the first period, and Hamilton struck twice on the ensuing power play.

Hamilton opened the scoring when Tom Pyatt took a shot that was stopped by Milwaukee starting goaltender Mark Dekanich. The save put the goaltender out of the play and Subban put the rebound past Dekanich.

The Bulldogs (29-12-7) took a 2-0 lead when Mike Glumac sent a pass to Benoit, who beat Dekanich on the blocker side.

The Admirals (26-16-6) narrowed the lead 2-1 at 4:48 of the second period. James Sexsmith fed a pass to Jessiman, whose shot went past goaltender Curtis Sanford, off the crossbar and into the back of the net.

The Bulldogs regained their two-goal lead at 9:26 of the second period. St. Denis's shot bounced around between Dekanich's pads before trickling over the goal-line.

St. Denis capped the scoring when he wired a shot over the shoulder of Dekanich and into the top of the net.

Sanford made 21 saves for Hamilton while Dekanich stopped 35 shots for Milwaukee.
