SAINT JOHN - Former Columbus Blue Jackets coach Gerard Gallant has been named head coach of the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Gallant, 45, spent seven years on the Blue Jackets coaching staff, serving as head coach from Jan. 1, 2004 to Nov. 13, 2007. The former Detroit Red Wings forward was an assistant coach of the New York Islanders in 2007-08.
