Hunter's eighth goal of the season gave Rochester a 3-2 lead at 10:47 of the second period. Drew Larman extended the lead to 4-2 at 15:28 of the third period. Toronto's Jay Harrison and Rochester's Anthony Stewart traded goals before the game ended.

Rochester (44-29-1) needs one point to clinch a playoff berth. Toronto is all but eliminated at 31-37-2-4.

John Mitchell gave Toronto a 1-0 lead 64 seconds into the game when he shovelled in a Karel Pilar rebound during a power play. The score didn't change until 3:14 of the second period when Michael Ryan scored on a power play, and Patrick Kaleta's goal off a short-handed breakaway at 7:56 put Rochester ahead.

Colin Murphy tied the score 2-2 with his 20th goal at 9:49 but Hunter replied just 58 seconds later and Rochester never trailed again.
