NEW YORK - Philadelphia Flyers forward Dan Carcillo has been suspended two games for cross-checking New Jersey's David Clarkson in the face during a game Sunday.

Carcillo received a match penalty for the hit, which resulted in a cut near Clarkson's right eye.

Carcillo apologized to Clarkson after the game, which Philadelphia won 5-1.

"I am disappointed in this decision by the league office," Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said in a release Tuesday. "This was clearly an accidental high stick and I do not believe a match penalty (for intent to injure) was the call that was warranted."

It's the second suspension of the season for Carcillo, who sat out four games for sucker-punching Washington winger Matt Bradley.
