Flyers acquire Modry from L.A. for third round pick

In an attempt to shore up their blueline, Philadelphia has traded a third round pick to the Kings for veteran Jaroslav Modry.

Modry, who is schedule to be a UFA at season's end, has one goal, six points and is a plus-2 in 61 games with the Kings this season.

In an Insider Blog for THN.com last month, the Czech talked about what it was like to be dealt at the deadline:

"Being traded at the deadline is really a shock. Even though you can see it coming sometimes, you feel like the team you’ve been working with just kind of gave up on you. But on the other hand, you have to look at it in a positive way: The other team really wants me, they want to upgrade themselves and I’m part of it."

According to Tim Panaccio of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Flyers first target was Leafs blueliner Tomas Kaberle, but he refused to waive his no-trade clause in order to join the Flyers.

Panaccio also reports Philadelphia is interested in landing Lightning rearguard Dan Boyle, but he's likely to re-sign with the Bolts.
