New photos have surfaced of what may be the Sharks jerseys for February’s Stadium Series outdoor contest. The pictured jersey looks incredibly similar to what has been reported as Los Angeles Kings’ new threads for the game.
Be it Winter Classic or Stadium Series, part of the hype surrounding the outdoor events is the unveiling of new jerseys. Months ahead of the February tilt before San Jose and Los Angeles, it appears we have our first look at the Sharks new threads. The photo, which first appeared on the aptly named
hockey aesthetics blog Icethetics, shows a three-color look that we’ve never seen from the Sharks. With little history to draw from, the Sharks didn’t have many options when it came to throwback jerseys so this is a nice compromise.
While the Sharks trademark teal appears prominently on the jersey, the one thing that’s seemingly missing is the orange piping that really popped off the teal. However, it’s believed the orange may be used as the border for both numbering and lettering on the jerseys. What is very interesting about the jerseys is the resemblance they bear to the reported jerseys the Kings will be
wearing for the outdoor contest. It’s rare to see teams go the exact same route with jerseys in an effort to pull off a certain motif, but it appears that’s exactly what has happened for this season’s Stadium Series game at Levi’s Stadium. Los Angeles will unveil their jerseys on Tuesday, Dec. 16 and one would expect San Jose will release their new sweater around the same time, so they can ship around the holidays.
