Here are some more one-offs on recent trades and observations for all you poolies to chew on.

Jan Bulis of the Montreal Canadiens began the season with 11 points in 32 games. In January, he had 17 points in 14 games. The 27-year-old has always had offensive potential, but until now had never realized it. I'm not ready to consider him in a keeper league, but a rotisserie one sure warrants itÂ…

Anaheim defenseman Francois Beauchemin has 18 points in his last 25 games and seven in his last six. He is clearly benefiting as Scott Niedermayer's defense partnerÂ…

There's a lot of talk about Todd Bertuzzi's sub-par offensive season, yet he is still in the top 40 in NHL scoringÂ…

Vinny Prospal's career points read as follows, in order: 36, 55, 29, 55, 79, 54, 85 (current pace). Every second season, the 30-year-old Tampa Bay right winger seems to really step up. The seasons in between, he has been getting 54 or 55 points. Now, I'm not saying those in keeper leagues should trade him this summerÂ…but I would. Even if this pattern ends, you will get someone of equal value anyway. And if the pattern continues, you will look like a geniusÂ…

Yanic Perreault of Nashville has 12 points in 12 games and is on a pace for a career high 60. The acquisition of Mike Sillinger may eat into his overall and power play ice time, but in their first game together it did notÂ…

Speaking of Sillinger, his production will decline slightly now that he is in Nashville. The reason? Nashville isn't forced to rely on him as their sole source of offense, like St. Louis was on oh so many nightsÂ…

Still with trades and St. Louis, Doug Weight's value in keeper leagues went up now that he's in Carolina. His regular season point total may only experience a slight bump, but in keeper leagues he is suddenly a playoff guyÂ…

The Calgary-Phoenix trade from Wednesday, which saw the two teams swap backup goaltenders and forwards, will have virtually no fantasy impact. Mike Leclerc will produce in Calgary at the same level he did in Phoenix and Steve Reinprecht will also see similar totals in a new uniform...

Injuries, from a fantasy pool perspective: Alexander Ovechkin will return from his groin injury Friday night against TorontoÂ…Nashville's David Legwand should return to the lineup next week. The 25-year-old is recovering from knee surgery and will return as, perhaps, a third-line player after the Preds acquired Sillinger. With Sillinger in the fold there is certainly no rush to bring Legwand back. Watch carefully for Legwand's role with the team for the first couple of games before putting him back in your rotisserie lineup.

Farm Report: Dallas prospect Junior Lessard had more points in January (15) than he did all of last season (14). The 25-year-old, currently playing with the American League's Iowa Stars, is finally showing the offensive spark that led Dallas to sign him as a free agent two years ago. Lessard also picked up two points in Wednesday's AHL All Star GameÂ…Phoenix prospect Olivier Latendresse, who had 27 points in 12 games for Val d'Or, was named offensive player of the month for January in the Quebec Major Junior League. The 19-year-old brother of Montreal prospect Guillarme was a free agent signing in 2004.
