The Western League's Spokane Chiefs apologized for the behavior of several scratched players in the stands, who were shouting during the national anthem at a home game last Friday

The Western League's Spokane Chiefs faced up to the anger of their own fans Wednesday night after an incident the previous Friday.

During the singing of the American national anthem, several scratched Chiefs players began shouting, prompting a good deal of fans to take to the team's Facebook page after the 2-1 overtime loss to Seattle and vent their frustrations.

Captain Jason Fram apologized to fans for his teammates' actions and GM Tim Speltz made a statement to local media, saying the players were shouting encouragement at an inappropriate time and not insulting the anthem singer, as some fans had suggested.
