The Oilers' young guns have been ruling the roost in Edmonton and last night's performance was just the latest installment. Watch what two of the team's high draft picks did to the best team in the NHL.Edmonton's video game lineup is finally coming together. With 2014 third overall pick Leon Draisaitl called up from the AHL, the Oilers dusted off league-leading Montreal in an exciting contest that showed just what Edmonton's young guns are capable of. Let's peruse a couple of highlights, shall we? Here's the winner from Draisaitl, courtesy a heads-up feed from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins: Discount the fact David Desharnais was about as strong as an eight-year-old on that dump-in; 'The Nuge' still got it off perfectly to the streaking Draisaitl, giving Edmonton a late lead that the Oilers would hold on to in a 4-3 win. Draisaitl also tallied earlier in the game off a feed from defenseman Oscar Klefbom, who leads the team in blueline scoring with five points through 11 games. And of course there's Connor McDavid, who was up to his old (new?) tricks with some incredible stickwork and compete level throughout the game. Here's some of his best work, getting the best of Norris Trophy winner P.K. Subban in order to push the puck up to Benoit Pouliot, who went in for another Oilers goal: Pretty hot stuff. McDavid now has 12 points in his first 11 NHL games to lead the Oilers – and all NHL rookies – in scoring. Of all the Oilers I've mentioned so far, only Pouliot is older than 22. This is, of course, great news that the Oilers are starting to win with players who haven't even reached their prime years yet. Before this season, Edmonton had tons of young talent but none of the sinews to keep the club together; it seemed as though all those No. 1 picks were going to waste. And sure, the team still has a losing record, but at least the Oilers are getting some statement wins and rewards for their efforts. Is there finally light at the end of that snow-covered tunnel in Edmonton?
