EDMONTON - The Edmonton Oilers assigned left-winger Linus Omark to Oklahoma City of the AHL on Friday, less than three weeks after being criticized for showboating in his NHL debut.
Omark took a lot of heat for the spin-o-rama goal he scored in a 4-3 shootout win over Tampa Bay on Dec. 10, his first-ever NHL game. Omark defended the move, saying has always enjoyed entertaining a hockey crowd.
The Oilers recalled the 23-year-old Omark on Dec. 8 and he registered a goal and four assists in eight appearances with the NHL club.
The five-foot-10, 174-pound Swede has appeared in 26 games with Oklahoma City, registering 26 points (13 goals, 13 assists).
Edmonton also recalled defenceman Shawn Belle from Oklahoma City. Belle has three goals and 16 assists in 31 games with the Barons this season.
