EA Sports wanted to inject some fun into goal celebrations in this year’s instalment of the NHL series, so they’ve added 40 unique goal celebrations, including one that will make Toronto Blue Jays fans especially happy.

Teemu Selanne’s glove-shooting, Theo Fleury’s sliding fist pumps and Alex Ovechkin warming his hands over his “hot stick” are a few of the most iconic post-goal celebrations in hockey history, but now one of baseball’s most memorable post-home run bat flips has made its way onto the digital ice. In EA Sports’ newest instalment of the NHL series, NHL 17, the option has been made available for players to select their own custom celebrations in modes such as Be A Pro and EASHL, which sees players take control of a single player in a team environment and play games alongside other members of their club. The celebrations, which are triggered by the player after putting one home, range from the obvious pumping up the crowd moves to the Sean Avery-style on-ice pushups. But one that especially stands out is the celebration called “It’s Gone.” Baseball fans, and especially those of the Toronto Blue Jays, will instantly recognize the celebration as a mimic of Jose Bautista’s now-famous bat flip following a playoff home run against the Texas Rangers: The Bautista-esque bat flip is one of 40 individual celebrations in the game, and certain to be one of the most used. EA Sports’ NHL 17 is set to be released Sept. 13, with Vladimir Tarasenko as the game’s cover athlete. Want more in-depth features and expert analysis on the game you love?
