The Sedins find success apart, Teemu gets his Winnipeg farewell and Bogo coughs it up in our morning recap

Check out our recap of last night's NHL action

Essential Water Cooler

John Tortorella broke up the Sedins! It’s the end times! OK, maybe not. With the Canucks playing abysmal hockey against Calgary through two periods, Vancouver’s new bench boss juggled his lines and that meant Henrik and Daniel on different trios. The result was much-improved play throughout the lineup and the team snatched a 5-4 victory in overtime. Their chemistry is legendary, but should the Canucks keep going with a spread-Sedin attack? Let us know in the comments.

Primetime Play

The tip pass from T.J. Galiardi was beautiful, the finish sensational: Mikael Backlund, where have you been all this time?

Men of the Night

Teemu Selanne, Anaheim: He may not have accomplished much on the ice last night, but Teemu’s last waltz in Winnipeg was a smash hit for the fans, who have never forgotten his time with the original NHL Jets so many years ago.

Mike Santorelli, Vancouver: The former Pred, Panther and Jet had two goals for the Canucks, including the overtime winner, which was served up masterfully by a rushing Kevin Bieksa.

Radek Dvorak, Carolina: ‘PTO’ may be the three sweetest letters in Raleigh right now. Dvorak came to camp on a tryout and has already made his mark for the Canes, depositing the 2-1 winner for Carolina on a beauty snipe against the struggling Flyers. Also on the Canes, rookie D-man Ryan Murphy got his first NHL point, while Anton Khudobin netted his first win as a member of the team.

Better Luck Next Time

Steve Mason, you’re off the hook: Zach Bogosian had a worse night. Not only did the big Winnipeg defenseman cough up the puck in stunning fashion on Anaheim’s game-winning goal, but he took a silly boarding penalty near the end of the third period, hindering any chance of a Jets comeback.
