The defenseman suffered a Grade 2 sprain to his right knee during Anaheim's win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Dec. 27. Fowler was leading all Ducks blue liners in ice time at the time of the injury.

The Anaheim Ducks will be without the help of defenseman Cam Fowler for another 3-5 weeks, the club announced.

Fowler has been sidelined with a sprained right knee suffered in the Ducks win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Dec. 27.

“It's a Grade 2 sprain so just general protocol 4-6 weeks depending on how I feel,” Fowler told the team’s website. “Things are progressing good right now. I feel healthy and strong so hopefully that continues and be back sooner rather than later, that's what I'm hoping.”

The 24-year-old leads all Ducks defensemen in average ice time per game (22:38) while scoring three goals and nine assists in 34 games.

“Any time you're injured it's disappointing,” Fowler said. “I kind of had an idea of what I was looking at when it first happened so it was kind of to be expected. It wasn't terrible news, it could've been worse, but I knew what I was looking at going into it.”

Fowler knew what to expect because he missed time in March 2014 with a left knee sprain.

“It's very similar to what happened on my other leg,” he said. “I knew how the rehab was going and kind of my timeframe I was looking at. There wasn't anything that surprised me too much. I was ready for the news and knew what I had to do to get back as soon as I could.”

The Ducks are already without blue liner Simon Despres, who has been sidelined since mid-October while recovering from a concussion.
