Anaheim Ducks goaltender Frederik Andersen is ready to pay tribute to Teemu Selanne in his own special way: by donning a mask showing some of the Finnish Flash’s best moments. The mask will be worn on Sunday, when the Ducks host the Winnipeg Jets and retire Selanne’s jersey.

This Sunday’s game in Anaheim is being called “Teemu Tribute Night,” as the Ducks will retire
Teemu Selanne’s jersey before they faceoff against the Winnipeg Jets.
Frederik Andersen has a special surprise for the game and he revealed it yesterday. For Sunday’s game, the Ducks goaltender will don a mask in honor of his former teammate, Selanne. The mask will add to Andersen’s already impressive repertoire of masks that has included everything from Lego characters to a play on the cult classic film Reservoir Dogs. You can check out the aptly named ‘Finnish Flash’ design below.

FrederikAndersenMask The lifelike image of Selanne on the right panel is outstanding, and the kind of thing we’ve come to expect when a mask is produced by DaveArt’s David Gunnarsson. Gunnarsson, Andersen has previously said, designs all of the masks for the Ducks goaltender, and this is yet another great piece of work. On each of the side panels, there are images of Selanne in a shooting position, a tribute to two of Andersen’s favorite goals that the Finnish sniper scored as a member of the Ducks. On top, of course, is a giant number eight embedded within the old Anaheim Mighty Ducks logo, paying homage to the logo when Selanne first came to Anaheim. Selanne has seen the mask since Andersen revealed it, and the Ducks released a video of his reaction:

Sunday’s game is set for a 5 p.m. start, and the tribute ceremony for the surefire Hall of Famer is sure to be one to watch.
