The fabulous freshman just recently turned 18, but he's showing his fellow college boys what he can do on a nightly basis. Pity the University of Maine Black Bears, who found out what happens when Eichel gets the puck and some room to build up steam.
Tons of attention has gone towards 2015 draft prospect Connor McDavid this season – and rightly so – but with the Erie Otters superstar sidelined with a broken hand, his main rival for that No. 1 slot is making his case for headlines. Boston University freshman Jack Eichel has been terrifying for the Terriers, leading the entire NCAA in offense with 19 points in just 10 games. His latest gem came in overtime against the University of Maine.
With the game on the line, Eichel clearly knows what to do with the puck:
Coupled with a win the next day over UConn, the Terriers are now tops in the conference and sport an 8-1-1 record overall. They also sit second and third in the national polls, which is an incredible turnaround from last season when Boston U. struggled to a 10-21-4 season. The team has already beaten archrival Boston College, too.
