DETROIT - Detroit Red Wings forward Johan Franzen is expected to miss three-to-four weeks after being diagnosed with a Grade 2 left knee sprain Sunday.
Franzen suffered the injury to his medial collateral ligament when he collided with Chicago Blackhawks defenceman Brent Sopel during the second period of Saturday's night's 6-5 shootout win.
Instead of travelling with his teammates to Los Angeles after the game for Monday's contest with the Kings, he returned to Detroit for the exam Sunday morning.
Franzen has five goals and two assists in eight games this season.
