VANCOUVER - Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki may be cheering for fellow German Christian Ehrhoff and the Vancouver Canucks but that doesn't bother Dennis Seidenberg.

Nowitzki voiced his support for "my man Hoff" in a message played on the Rogers Arena scoreboard during the Canucks' 1-0 win Wednesday in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final.

But Seidenberg, the Bruins' shutdown defenceman and fellow German, said Friday that Nowitzki's support wasn't a surprise.

"I talked to a German reporter," said Seidenberg, who has played on Olympic and national teams with Ehrhoff.

"The Dallas Mavericks trainer is either a Vancouver fan or from Vancouver, I'm not sure. He always keeps him up to date.

"I guess that's the reason he's cheering for them. I have no idea."

Told by a questioner that Nowitzki didn't know him although both are high-profile German athletes in North America, Seidenberg said he didn't know how to respond.

"I don't know what I'm supposed to say to that," Seidenberg said with a grin.

"I follow him a lot. Obviously, he's a superstar. I still think he's a great player. It doesn't change anything."

Nowitzki scored 24 points Thursday to lead Dallas on a 22-5 fourth quarter run in a 95-93 victory that evened the Mavericks' NBA final series with the Miami Heat at a game apiece.
