The NHL's stars were shining bright in Chicago on Sunday as Sidney Crosby, Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews notched some spectacular goals in the shootout.

Love it or hate it, the shootout tiebreaker is a platform for the league’s best players to showcase their skills.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks combined for one of the most spectacular shootouts of the season on Sunday in a contest that saw the likes of Sidney Crosby, David Perron and Kris Letang go up against Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Patrick Sharp.

The Blackhawks came out on top by a score of 2-1 in a shootout full of theatrics and short on saves.

Every goal was worth a replay, but Sidney Crosby's pop-fly score was one of the best of the bunch.

Crosby came in to Corey Crawford’s left and cut across the goal to throw a backhand on net. The puck skipped high off Crawford and appeared to deflect over the net, but a half-second later it dropped right on the goal line and skittered in.

The Chicago fans roared in appreciation of the save, then hushed as they realized the puck was in the net.

Patrick Kane scored a show-stopper of his own at the other end, slowing up and showing off his crazy stickhandling abilities before tucking the puck in behind Marc-Andre Fleury.

Patrick Sharp had the winner, a no-nonsense wrister that beat Fleury to the glove side.

Toews also scored for Chicago by sliding the puck through Fleury’s five-hole.

Perron had the opening goal for Pittsburgh, a backhander that beat Crawford as the Blackhawks goalie fell forward.

Letang was the only player who failed to score, as Crawford managed to flash the leather and deny him to set up Sharp’s winner.

Here’s the whole thing. It’s worth watching start to finish. It’s also worth watching more than once.
