Phoenix Coyotes prospect Kyle Turris is not sure if he has been included in the team's virtual lineup for NHL 2K11, a video game set for release later this summer.

"I'm not sure if I'm on the current roster," he said Thursday. "But I mean, once they do their updates and everything, hopefully I will be."

The former Canadian junior team hero, who has been helping to promote the video game, is hoping for a similar fate in real life. The 20-year-old forward spent an entire season in the AHL last year, and will be aiming to crack the Coyotes' roster out of training camp this fall.

"Coming into camp, everything's been really positive," he said. "I'm really excited to get there and get started."

Turris helped Canada to a gold medal at the world junior championship two years ago, collecting four goals and a team-high 22 shots over seven games. Forward John Tavares and defenceman Drew Doughty were among his teammates.

He moved up to the NHL later that year and scored eight times in 63 games with the Coyotes, but he was also a minus-15, and was shipped to the AHL.

Turris spent all of last season with the San Antonio Rampage, scoring 24 times while collecting 39 assists in 76 games.

"It was a learning year," Turris said. "I worked on all the little things."

He owns a home in Scottsdale, Ariz., and said it is equipped with a Wii, as well as a PlayStation 3.

"I've spent a lot of time playing video games," Turris said. "You could call me a gamer, that's for sure."

NHL 2K11 will be available exclusively on the Wii platform.

"I wouldn't say it's like any other hockey game I've ever played," Turris said. "You can literally flick the puck up onto your stick and cradle it like a lacrosse stick, then throw it up in the air and bat it out of the air and score, all by moving your hands in certain directions."

The video game will be released Sept. 7.
