Nathan MacKinnon has incredible hands and the sophomore star showed them off with a beautiful shootout goal. Detroit Red Wings netminder Petr Mrazek had no chance.
Whether you’re a fan of the shootout or not, no one can deny it lends itself to some good highlight material. On Sunday night, Nathan MacKinnon scored a shootout beauty that’s going to be on reels all season.
The 19-year-old Colorado Avalanche winger scored on the shootout’s first attempt, using a slow, methodical approach before going upstairs past Detroit Red Wings goaltender Petr Mrazek:
We’ve seen this kind of thing from MacKinnon before and he’s made a habit of terrorizing goaltenders with his incredible hands. This season has the third most shootout goals of any player, scoring on each of his four attempts. Though he’s on pace for only 51 points, a bit of a sophomore slump after a rookie point total of 63 in 2013-14, his ability with the puck makes him a constant threat and he showed it with this shootout tally.
After an eight round shootout, the Avalanche picked up a 2-1 victory thanks to a Jarome Iginla marker.
