New Jersey (16-9-3) at Buffalo (15-12-3), 7:00 p.m. EST
BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) -- After a prolonged winning streak,
the New Jersey Devils have fallen into the trap of struggling
without injured goaltender Martin Brodeur once again.
Goaltender Scott Clemmsensen and the Devils hope to snap their
two-game losing skid and get back to their winning ways on
Wednesday when they take on the Buffalo Sabres for the second
time in three games.
Following Brodeur's injury on November 1, New Jersey initially
went 1-5-0. Then, Clemmensen began his string of impressive
outings and the team turned around to win nine of 10 contests.
Buffalo denied New Jersey its fifth straight win on Saturday, as
Thomas Vanek netted two goals in a 4-2 victory. The Devils
suffered a 3-2 shootout loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on
Clemmensen has been nothing short of terrific, starting eight of
their last nine games. He has already notched a career-high in
victories by posting an 8-4-0 record in 13 contests.
With its win on Saturday, Buffalo has won four of five.
The Sabres have scored four goals in each of those four
victories, and have seemingly snapped out of a funk during which
they dropped eight of their previous 10 contests.
