RALEIGH, N.C. - Carolina Hurricanes goaltender John Grahame cleared waivers and was sent to Albany of the American Hockey League on Friday.

Grahame, 32, was scheduled to join Albany in time for the River Rats' AHL game against Syracuse on Friday night.

The Hurricanes waived the struggling goaltender on Thursday.

The goaltender is 4-6-1 while allowing an average of 3.83 goals with a .875 save percentage in 13 games. In his last appearance, he allowed three goals on 14 shots before being pulled in the second period of the Hurricanes' loss to the New York Islanders on Monday.

Grahame signed with the Hurricanes in the off-season following their 2006 Stanley Cup title. He went 10-13-2 with a 2.85 goals-against average and a .897 save percentage last season.
