After getting a second opinion, Montreal Canadiens netminder Carey Price will be out at least another week with an unspecified lower-body injury. Price, 28, has been out of the lineup since Oct. 30.

Montreal Canadiens netminder Mike Condon has been stellar in his five consecutive starts since Carey Price’s injury, and that’s good news because the Canadiens’ Vezina Trophy-winning netminder isn’t going to be back for at least one more week.

The Canadiens announced Tuesday that Price received a second opinion on his lower-body injury and doctors have told him that the diagnosis has remained the same. Price will not need surgery, and the timetable for his return isn’t one that should concern Habs fans too much.

"Carey was not responding all that well to treatment so he was a bit worried,” coach Michel Therrien told NHL.com’s Arpon Basu. "It happens often; there aren't two athletes who respond the same way to treatment. So he asked to get a second opinion on his injury. He went to see the doctor yesterday in New York, and the good news is he got the same diagnosis. We see that as very good news.”

Price will not be able to return to the crease for duty this week — the Canadiens take visit the Pittsburgh Penguins Wednesday and the Colorado Avalanche come to Montreal Saturday — but he could be back by the time the Habs host the Vancouver Canucks next Monday, Nov. 16.

As far as the nature of the injury, Therrien would not dive into specifics, telling reporters that he saw “no positive” in revealing that information and said the Canadiens were “fighting against the competition,” and stating Price’s injury could give the opposition an advantage.

Before going down with injury in late October, Price, who was the NHL’s MVP in 2014-15, was off to another great start. Through nine games, he had a 7-2-0 record, two shutouts, 2.01 goals-against average and .936 save percentage. In Price’s Vezina-winning season this past season, he had a 44-16-6 record, nine shutouts, 1.96 GAA and .933 SP.

The 28-year-old netminder has a history of lower-body injuries, including a right knee sprain in 2014 and a groin injury dating back to 2009. In total, Price has missed 32 career games due to injury.
