Capitals star Alex Ovechkin scored against St. Louis Tuesday for his 50th goal of the season – the fifth time he's reached that lofty plateau in his nine NHL seasons.
The Washington Capitals likely won't make a playoff appearance this year, but captain Alex Ovechkin continued adding to his individual achievements by scoring his 50th goal of the season Tuesday. It was the fifth time in his nine-year NHL career the 28-year-old has reached the 50-goal plateau, and the first time since 2009-10.
Ovechkin has come under criticsm for a terrible plus-minus rating, but as he cruises to his second straight Rocket Richard Trophy as the league's top scorer, the Russian is showing no NHL sniper is more dangerous with the puck.
