Washington (10-4-3) at Anaheim (10-7-2) 10:00 p.m. EST

ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- The Washington Capitals'
near-perfect play had to end sometime.

After having their five-game win streak snapped, the Capitals
try to begin another surge on Wednesday when they visit the
Anaheim Ducks.

Following a regulation and overtime loss to start November,
Washington went on a five-game run where it hardly made a
mistake. The Capitals scored at least three goals in every
contest and did not give up more than two tallies in any game
during the streak.

Nicklas Backstrom was Washington's key cog over the stretch,
registering a goal and six assists. Backstrom continued his
strong play on Saturday, scoring a goal and setting up four
others, but it wasn't enough as the Capitals suffered a 6-5
shootout loss in the second game of a home-and-home series with
the New Jersey Devils.

The Ducks have not been nearly as good as Washington of late and
snapped a 0-2-1 slide with a 2-0 victory against the Los Angeles
Kings on Sunday.

Jonas Hiller stopped 29 shots to record his first career NHL
shutout. Corey Perry extended his points streak to three games
with a first-period goal and defenseman Bret Hedican also
tallied as Anaheim defeated the Kings for the eighth time in the
last 10 meetings - including the last five at the Honda Center.
