Canada's under-22 and under-18 women's hockey teams concluded their three-game series with the U.S. on winning notes Saturday.
The under-22 squad captured a 4-3 overtime victory to clinch the three-game series 2-1 in Pierrefonds, Que. Meanwhile, in Lake Placid, N.Y., the under-18 team won 3-2, also in overtime, for its first win of that three-game set.
In Quebec, Catherine Ward of Montreal scored 48 seconds into overtime to secure the win for Canada. Jennifer Wakefield of Pickering, Ont., Emmanuelle Blais of Montreal and Lauriane Rougeau of Beaconsfield, Que., had the other goals as the Canadian rallied from a 3-0 second-period deficit to force overtime.
In Lake Placid, Breann Frykas of East St. Paul, Man., scored 3:11 into overtime for Canada. Laurie Kingsbury of Valleyfield, Que., and captain Brianne Jenner of Oakville, Ont., had the others. Goaltender Roxanne Douville of Beloeil, Que., stopped 41 shots.
